It was a tough week to decide what the best buy would be. Young Blood looked pretty good early on, but the Hottest 100 songs surging late makes that a little unpredictable now. S&M on the other hand continued to rise, and should make more than a 50% gain. 50% isn't out of the question for Young Blood either though. I guess we'll have to wait and see tomorrow which turns out better.
I rise back up to my peak! Shame about my mini fail last week, otherwise I could have been closer to moving up even higher. But I'm happy that I won the week, picking the best buy when few others bought it at all, and nobody else bought 100%.
Could be another interesting one this week. Last edited:
Or even first or second, it did have a good start to the week. Maybe everyone just underestimated the start and looked only at the end? It's happened that way before.
Fall at Your Feet is a good buy, solid vocals and the moment the drums really kick in about halfway through - Oh wait, on the charts. Good music doesn't chart high
And last week's good work is undone because I tried to do something different in the hopes that it'd work out in my favour. Oh well, if I'm not #1, I don't really mind where I sit, as long as it's in the top ten.

You should know how I feel, I know I got you twisted
Up another place. That's a surprise in a week where The Lazy Song was an obvious buy, but I'll take it. This week could prove more interesting. I see three potential strong gainers.
Happy to assumably be at my rightful peak, ouch anton I actually thought you had Marvin Priest the whole time. I myself had the song about the New Testament, or the current political state, or the eventual uprising of hamsters, or whatever BS Dan Brown thinks of these days
But I'm a creeeeeeeeep, I'm a weirdo You do it to yourself, you do What's thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat I jumped into the river and what did I see Paying attention, paying attention, paying attention, paying attention Jigsaw falling into place, there is nothing to explain

With priiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide in our heaaaarts, we're putting it out there
I split my points between 3 albums (as there was jack shit to buy on singles), hopefully it doesn't backfire, i know one won't drop out just not real sure on the other two.
Interesting manouvere Chris. I kept an eye on four albums myself, and ended up purchasing some of one of them, but I spent my majority on a single. I wasn't confident enough on the albums, even with a finishing tour and an upcoming tour.
I think a good way to determine the overall winner of the charts game is to tally up points based on your position on the rankings, like how Aus Charts records the chart runs of songs and adds up their points (hope this makes sense).
However this method does mean we need to find our old chart runs.
Adding up how many points we've accumulated at the end of each season is not the best way because you can lose all your points in the last round. Last edited:
This makes me quite happy too. Firstly, I move up, AND make a sizeable gain on the #1 position. Secondly, I've now held every position in the top 11 at one point during the three games. Thirdly, with Chris dropping from #1, my record as the only person to hold #1 for an entire game will not be matched this time around. Fourthly, congrats to Jinx for finally getting that #1 position, and proving that he's a Britney, not a Thom.
Come play my game I'll test ya. Psychosomatic, addict insane!
i wish i tried harder at the start of the game. i was planning to quit aus-charts because i thought i was going to have broadband but i didnt so now im stuck on this lame forum i dont even like and am not even part of the charts game :-( Last edited:

I brough the WRONG Avril by mistake and didn't even know until today after the buying closes. Why did the 2 Avrils have to be so close to each other. This is what happens when you rush things. Probaly my biggest Charts Game blunder yet.

I didn't do this yet. Oops. Uh, anyway, I had a bit of Avril and Andre, but I mostly bought some skank who was touring but decided to fall a spot with her older and more superior album. Maybe in a non-Mothers Day week I'd have had better luck. Fortunately I managed to hold onto #2.

Oh come on, if you were gonna use that awful song, you could at least have picked some of the more interesting lyrics. You could have spouted about the awesomeness of toast, how scary ghosts are, or volunteered for any dare, as long as it wasn't walking under a ladder.

As a proud statistics freak, I undertook the goal to fairly aggregate the chart games to find the overall ranking of members. I did this by giving each member a score taken from their proportion of the total points across all members in each game, then multiplied by 1,000,000 for neatness purposes. This means that each game has a total of 1,000,000 points distributed for this table, or 2,000,000 overall. The first two chart games were added together and this is the result.

A couple of notes:
*All scores were rounded off with no decimal places for neatness. *Due to this, despite appearing otherwise, the only true ties (as indicated by the first columns) are 63rd and 105th, which are all the 1000 point scorers in the 1st and 2nd games respectively *On a similar note, only the bottom rank can lay claim to exactly 0 points *Due to the nature of the way people play, and even the charts themselves, this is still subject to some bias; There is a noticable bias towards the first game in this list. I believe a more effective method would require finding out the perfect score in the chart game (by making the best possible purchase every week), and finding everyone's percentage of that. I am not willing to embark upon this endeavour but I welcome anyone to try! *Another possible way to do this is to take a person's peak points, thus minimalising the effect of dropping out. I do not have the data so I cannot do this. *I will probably add data from the 3rd game when it finishes. *Although it appears otherwise, everything about the chart game is linear. While many have noted that the leaders in the game manage ridiculous leads, this is completely a result of performing ridiculously better (ie, if someone has 47x as many points as another, they are playing 47x better. This is evident by the fact that it will stay at a factor of 47 if both perform identically from there.
Here I was looking to extend my lead because someone forgot to buy anything this week (I reserve the right to believe that this is connected to a new game started no matter what anyone tells me otherwise ) I'll try to make the new table today. Last edited:
*I forgot to mention but the crashout column is in line with what is written on the game, so the number is slightly higher than normal, something that is too tedious for me to fix. Last edited:
You were my strength when I was weak. You were my voice when I couldn't speak. You were my eyes when I couldn't see. You were my tongue when I couldn't eat. You were my small intenstine when I couldn't digest. You were my perks when I couldn't prestige. You were my dictonary when I couldn't spell. You were my BSOD when I couldn't startup. You were my film when I couldn't act. You were my guest post when I couldn't say something under my own name. You were my investments when I couldn't perform well in the chart game. You were the person I hope didn't scroll up when I ripped myself off
I was bored, and got James Morrison's album, which happened to be the same as Nates and I guess the other two's as well. LOL for the huge drops though!
Wow, what a spread of scores, cool! I have no idea what anyone else bought, but I know my buy of Les Mis wasn't the best option so I'm glad to come out of it with third place.
What a funny occurance, a song that I added to the site is now my charts game buy for the week. Wouldn't it be cool if would could buy songs that weren't on the chart? Say if I add a song I get 1 point for that, then if it charts the value goes up and I earn heaps of points. It's just my idea. I'm not seriously suggesting that the game should be changed. I wouldn't say it's been dull at all this round, I've had movement nearly every week!
I think it's time to discuss rule changes for the next game. Because the longer everyone buys the same thing the more impossible it becomes to actually overtake someone. There should be a limit to how many items you can buy, or the amount of points you can invest. Like maybe having only a maximum of 1000 points to buy things or something. It would help to remain closer through the whole game instead of right now where nothing can change. What do others think about changing the rules?
Based on the way that people play the game zxcv, that's a mostly negligible misconception. Apart from very insignificant amounts that round out your total, the catch up difficulty remains exactly the same, so long as you keep performing just as good as the person you're trying to overtake.
For example, you have 10,000 points and another person has 20,000 points. They're beating you and rightly so, because at some point earlier they did something to gain this 100% lead. If you want to overtake them, you must simply match whatever feat got them this lead. In this example, you could gain 150% more points while they only gain 25%.
But say you didn't do that and you kept lingering behind them because you keep buying the same stuff. You could have gotten to 200,000 points and they'll be on 400,000 points. The numbers are bigger, but for the sake of the game, their lead hasn't changed at all. In fact, if you gained 150% while they only gain 25%, much like last time you will match them all the same.
This concern crops up often, but I hope this explanation makes sense
Eh, Hijinx zxcvcxz didn't ask for an explanation so best leave the correcting another member to the side.
The Charts Game is very stale. There needs to be some sort of update to allow movement in the game. I think buying the biggest drop inside the top fifty would be interesting. It's rare to see a member lost their position unless either their absent or forgot to buy. The game is almost pointless. The Charts Game also is heavily impacted as members would utilise the iTunes charts to determine whether a song will rise. Rather than noting that we have concerns i think it's best we move forward & implement changes to The Charts Game to make it actually enjoyable.
I am exiting the Charts Game this week. It has been four consecutive weeks i have accrued more points than those above me & still yet to shift more than one position. The game is fruitless.
