The four-piece local pop-rock act 5 Seconds of Summer see their latest single "Youngblood" climbs two spots to becomes the band's second chart-topping single in Australia.
"Youngblood" becomes the 1075th No.1 song in Australia (1940 to 2018) and the 510th for ARIA (1983 to 2018), plus they're the first local band to top the charts in almost two years, as The Veronicas "In My Blood" (2 wks from 11th of July, 2016) was the last Australian No.1 song to top the ARIA Singles chart, plus it also becomes the 60th No.1 song for the Capitol Record label and first since Sam Smith did it last September. The song is currently No.4 in New Zealand, No.13 in Norway and Top 40 in both Denmark (#31) and Ireland (#32) plus is also charting in both America (#63) and Canada (#81).
The word 'Youngblood' has never appeared in a No.1 song title, but it is the sixth 'Young' and the third 'Blood' track, with the other two having been during this decade with the aforementioned 'In My Blood' by The Veronicas, plus also Taylor Swift took her 'Bad Blood' to the No.1 in June of 2015 (3 wks). This is the 164th No.1 song to hit the top by an Australian artist in total, and the second for the band who previously spent a week at the top with "She Looks So Perfect" on the 31st of March, 2014, and the band now joins the 'Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Singles; 2010's' listing at No.28 alongside other acts with two No.1's this decade like Calvin Harris, Major Lazer and M0 (3 weeks at the top apiece), while the boys will be performing on The Voice on Sunday night so this song might be secure at No.1 for another week, plus the song is at the top of the digital chart (for a second week) and is up to No.2 on the streaming listing.
Post Malone has the No.1 streamed song with "Better Now" which is at No.2 for a third week overall, while last weeks chart topping song for Childish Gambino and "This is America" (still No.1 in N.Z., USA and Canada) drops here two spots to No.3 and is newly certified Gold (●) in sales, while the current six-week running UK & Irish No.1 song for Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa in "One Kiss" is back up one spot to its former peak of No.4 here and now ▲Platinum in sales, and it swaps places with "Nice for What" by Drake, down a spot to No.5.
The Ariana Grande former No.1 song "No Tears Left to Cry" is on hold at No.6 this week while back up one spot to No.7 is the Khalid and Normani track "Love Lies" (now 2x▲Platinum) and Amy Shark moves up a place to a new peak of No.8 with "I Said Hi", which scores its first certification and is now Gold (●). --------------------==\/==-------------------- Post Malone jumps back up four places to reclaim the top spot on the ARIA Albums Chart with his second studio album "Beerbongs and Bentleys" for a second week at No.1 in Australia.

There are three further Top 10 debuts this week, and the seventh studio album for US heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch with "And Justice for None" which enters at No.4, becoming their second Top 5 and Top 10 album, and entering one place lower than their 2015 sixth album "Got Your Six" (HP-3, Sept), and overall this is their sixth albums chart entry (five studios and one GH, which hit No.30 back in December of 2017).
Korean boy band BTS see their sixth overall studio album (third Korean sung set) titled "Love Yourself 轉 'Tear'", coming in at No.6 and it's their second Top 10 album here after "Love Yourself: Her" hit No.8 in October of 2017. The soundtrack for the film 'Deadpool 2' lands nine places higher than its predecessor (HP-18, Feb 2016), coming in at No.9, as the film hit cinemas around the world last week with this new set containing this weeks No.94 entry for Celine Dion and "Ashes", plus tracks by Diplo, French Montana, DJ Shadow, Skrillex and older tracks by Peter Gabriel, a-ha, Cher, Dolly Parton, Air Supply and Pat Benetar.

* #81 (ST) - Mean Girls Original Broadway Cast Recording is the album from the 2004 film 'Mean Girls', both written by actress and comedian Tina Fey, with the musical premiering in Washington D.C. on October of 2017 and it's Broadway run starting just back in April and the show has recently received twelve Tony nominations.
* #93 (LP#6) - Wide Awake! by Parquet Courts is the sixth studio album for the U.S. indie rock band, while it their first to chart here in Australia.
* #100 (LP#1) - Inspiration by Sheku Kanneh-Mason is the British cellist's debut set, having won in 2016 the BBC Young Musician of the Year award (the first black man to win the award too), plus he also played last weekend at the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wedding, with this album containing classical pieces alongside reworkings of songs by Bob Marley and Leonard Cohen.

By my count, Youngblood has had the longest climb to #1 for an Australian song since...

...Jessica Mauboy, over 9 years ago! Legends only etc. I love Youngblood for providing one of the most utterly unexpected chart moments in some time; it barely feels real that it's actually #1. It also means 5SOS have twice as many #1s as One Direction
Now let's try and give another artist on the above list a comeback and get Samantha Jade's UK house opus Roller Skates onto a playlist ~
Interesting that Happier by Ed Sheeran hasn't had any streaming promotion yet
*Also the fact that Havana is 8x platinum but Rockstar is only 4x platinum shows how lazy Universal are at updating certs. Rockstar could easily be 6-8x platinum Last edited:
The certs have been all over the place over the past year or so. I imagine quite a few certs need updating or are incorrect.
Glad 5SOS are #1, they aren't usually my thing but I really like the song. Nice that there is finally an Aussie #1 again too.
I wonder who will knock it off? It will definitely get another week as they are on the Voice but I can't see it lasting more than 2/3 weeks. I'd love One Kiss to do it but realistically I reckon Better Now will overtake soon.
