Placing this here as a heads up that a new game will begin soon. Once the final chart of the year and the J-Award nominations are announced I will begin the game (likely early very November).
Ausmusic month is nearly upon us, which is traditionally the time that we have run the Oz Artist of the Year Danger Zone. We’re back again for 2022, with hopefully enough interest to carry it through to the end.
Same rules as the previous year’s addition apply. From the first round, right up until we reach the #21, you will be saving TWO ARTISTS. After saving your two artists, you then wait 3 hours and 3 posts before voting again (we will keep the 3 & 3 from 2021 to keep the game moving). The last remaining artist in the Danger Zone will be eliminated, and the artists that are in the Safe Zone will be placed back into the Danger Zone for the next round.
Once we are down to 20 artists remaining, we will revert to saving ONE ARTIST at a time, and all artists will have two entries , meaning that they have to be saved two times to be safe. Should there be two artists left in the danger zone, then the next participant can save one artist to eliminate one artist, then start a new round and save another artist. This will go on until we're down to 10 artists remaining, where all artists will have four entries, meaning that they have to be saved four times to be safe. For the final 2 , both songs will have eight entries meaning that they have to be saved eight times to be safe, and thus win the game!
In case we hit a roadblock as happened last year, if no new votes are cast in a period greater than 18 hours I will eliminate the lowest seed remaining in the Danger Zone. The seeding is a result of the points used to determine which 50 artists are included in the game for the year and are based off ARIA chart performance and award nominations.
In summary: 50-21: 1x entry per artist - Save up to 2x Artists Per Round (3 hours and 3 posts) 20-11: 2x entries per artist - Save up to 1x Artist Per Round (3 hours and 3 posts) 10-03: 4x entries per artist - Save up to 1x Artist Per Round (3 hours and 3 posts) 02-01: 8x entries per artist - Save only 1x Artist Per Round (3 hours and 3 posts)
