Capitol Records artist Olivia Dean sets a new ARIA-era record by securing a ninth straight week at #1 with Man I Need, the label's longest continuous run at the top for this century.
Man I Need and its ninth consecutive week as the top-seller in Australia becomes the equal-second longest running #1 for Capitol Records, but unlike the nine overall weeks that Katy Perry's Roar secured in 2013, that was over two runs (3 weeks from August 26th, one week off, then six more weeks from September 23rd, 2013), Olivia has done it with a continual run at the top, the longest stay for the label this century, while in the pre-ARIA-era (prior to mid-1983) their longest run was with Mull of Kintyre (from Dec. 12th, 1977) for Wings (new doco for Paul and Wings coming in late February) for eleven straight weeks.
Olivia's Man I Need also becomes one of 29 tracks to have new secured nine weeks at #1 (14th in the ARIA-era) since the 1940's, while it's also the equal sixth longest for this decade, tying with the nine-broken weeks accrued by Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill in 2022. And with Olivia again holding the top of both charts she achieves a sixth straight week of duopolies, matching the six weeks achieved by Taylor Swift from October 13th, 2025 and the six-broken-weeks the KPop Demon Hunters set saw from August 4th, 2025, with the last British solo female artist achieving this feat was Adele for seven weeks from June 27th, 2011 with Someone Like You and 21.
The ninth week at #1 for Olivia Dean's Man I Need (EOY#15) is the longest run at the top for a Solo Female Artist since Doja Cat and Paint the Town Red secured ten straight weeks from August 28th, 2023, while Olivia also retains the #1 spots on both charts in New Zealand for a 15th week (single) and an 12th week (album), plus the single is the first of fifteen new sales certifications within the Top 50 this week, rising from 1xPlatinum to now 3x▲Platinum, with her other Top 10 entry So Easy (to Fall in Love) rebounding two spots to #5 and newly ▲Platinum in sales (six of her seven Top 50 placements have new sales certs this week too).
ARIA issued their End of Year (EOY) Singles chart this past week, so I will be including that info in this week's report. Also spending a ninth week in their stable position is The Fate of Ophelia (EOY#27) for Taylor Swift, which holds the #1 spots overseas in Germany (11th week), The Netherlands (10th week), Switzerland, The U.S.A. (10th week) and Canada (12th week), along with #2 in Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and Norway (see the songs overall positions in the table below).
Another song which is now holding several overseas top-spots is the returned Djo track End of Beginning, which locally is up one spot to RE-PEAK at #3 for a fifth overall stay (four initial weeks were from March 18th, 2024), while the song holds for a second week at the top in England and our On Replay Singles chart, as well as rising to the top in Austria. Several LP-tracks from the Stranger Things Season 5 soundtrack are also within our Catalogue Singles chart too; Purple Rain for Prince (first sales cert of 4x▲Platinum) up to #16, Landslide for Fleetwood Mac (#18), Every Breath You Take for The Police (#9) and Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush (#43).
This past week the Golden Globe awards were held, and the winner for 'Best Song from a Movie' went to Golden for HUNTR/X (EOY#2) , which could mean it's going to win an Oscar in a few weeks' time, but after 13 weeks of sitting at #3 the track is dislodged and dips one spot to #4 (newly 5x▲Platinum), while also dipping one place each are WHERE IS MY HUSBAND for Raye (#1 Hip Hop/R&B Single) and Ordinary by Alex Warren (EOY#1) to #6 and #7 respectively.
The two final non-movers within the Top 10 this week are No Broke Boys for Disco Lines with Tinashe (#1 Dance Single, EOY#17) and 12 to 12 for sombr (newly 2x▲Platinum, EOY#52) at #8 and #9 respectively, while the first new Top 10 entry for 2026 is also a NEW PEAK at #10 for last week's entry by Dave with Tems and Raindance, up eight places to land at #10, becoming the third Top 10 placement here for Dave and the first for Tems. The song hits new peaks in all of its overseas territories this week, with England the highest placed at #2, along with Switzerland (#3), Luxembourg (#6) and five #7 positions in Ireland, Germany, The Netherlands, Austria and Denmark.
TOP 20: Olivia Dean has the only two sales certs in this chart region, with Nice to Each Other (HP-8x3, WI10-9, EOY#49) down two to #12 and now 2x▲Platinum, plus she scores a Gold (●) for the only non-mover here, A Couple Minutes at #16. With two new entries landing at the top and bottom of the Top 20 this week, everything else moves down, with further two-place drops seen by back to friends by sombr (EOY#12), I Run by HVN, Opalite for Taylor Swift (EOY#78) and Love Me Not by Ravyn Lenae (EOY#11) to #13, #14, #15 and #16 respectively.
Benson Boone could be seeing his last week within the Top 100 this week, as Beautiful Things (EOY#7) drops four places to #18 and log it's 104th week (2 years), with the song never dropping any lower than #32 (Oct. 13th and 20th, 2025) during its chart time, with 69 weeks accrued within the Top 10, the second longest of all time. The final decline here sees Justin Biebers' DAISIES wilt three places to plant themselves at #20 (EOY#34).
TOP 30: The three rising entries here are all NEW PEAKS, with Esdee Kid's 4 Raws up six places to land at #22 (Gold (●) in sales), last week's rise-from-the-lower-fifty entry Choosin' Texas for Ella Langley, which jumps sixteen places to land at #30 (the song is at #5 in The U.S.A. and #7 in Canada, plus it debuts in New Zealand at #31), while rising out of the lower fifty this week is SIENNA SPIRO with Die on This Hill, up thirty-nine places to land at a NEW PEAK of #29 after six weeks within the Top 100. Its highest overseas position is a #10 in England (UK.HP-9), along with new Top 20 peaks in New Zealand (#18), Ireland (#14), The Netherlands (#11) and Belgium (#15 debut).
Olivia Dean's Baby Steps is the only non-mover here at #25, plus it's now Gold (●) in sales too, with the third and final new sales cert here going to That's So True for Gracie Abrams (EOY#4), down five to #28 and now 7x▲Platinum, with the other five-place-drop here being for CHANEL by Tyla to #27. Dipping two-place each are Undressed for sombr (to #21, EOY#14), BIRDS OF A FEATHER by Billie Eilish (to #23, EOY#6) and Victory Lap by Fred Again.. to #26 (EOY#48), while there's a four-place slide to #24 for A Bar Song (Tipsy) by Shaboozey (EOY#9).
TOP 40: Olivia Dean has two rising entries here, with Let Alone the One You Love back up five spots to #34 and now Gold (●) in sales, while her team-up with Sam Fender on Rein Me In leaps nine places to a NEW PEAK of #31 (former peak was #36 on Dec. 29th, 2025). Tate McRae also has two climbing songs within the Top 40, as TIT FOR TAT is up two to #36 and Just Keep Watching climbs four spots to #40 (EOY#54), plus the fifth and final rising entry here is the Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars duet Die With a Smile, back up five places to #32 (EOY#5) and now 8x▲Platinum in sales, possibly boosted by Bruno's new entry at #11.
The third and final new sales cert here sees Esdee Kid score his second Gold (●) for the week as Phantom drops down five places to #39, while also dropping are THE DAYS - NOTION Remix for Chrystal (EOY#10), I Had Some Help for Post Malone and Morgan Wallen (EOY#16) and Gabriela by KATSEYE, all falling six places each to #33, #35 and #37 respectively, with the equal-third biggest drop within the Top 50 this week seen by a twelve-place fall to #38 for APT. by Rosé and Bruno Mars (EOY#3).
TOP 50: There's one more NEW PEAK within the Top 50 this week, and it's also the new #1 Song on the Australian Artists chart, as Sonny Fodera along with D.O.D. and Poppy Bascomb see their track Think About Us rising up four places to land at #48 after five weeks within the Top 100, while the song is sitting within the Top 30 in both England (#22) and Ireland (#24), both also NEW PEAKS too.
The only other rising entry here is a one-place move to #41 for Kehlani's Folded, which scores a ▲Platinum sales accreditation this week, with the two final new sales certs being 6x▲Platinum for Good Luck, Babe! by Chappell Roan (down six to #47, EOY#18) and the week's biggest declining entry Messy for Lola Young (falls seventeen to #49, now 5x▲Platinum, EOY#8). Further double-digit-drops are seen by Manchild (down 13 to #43, EOY#38) and Espresso (down 12 to #45, EOY#19) both by Sabrina Carpenter and Soda Pop for Saja Boys (drops eleven to #46, EOY#28). The three final drops here are Sports Car for Tate McRae (down six to #42, EOY#22), Sailor Song for Gigi Perez (dips one to #44, EOY#21) and Tame Impala's Dracula (down three to #50).
NEW ENTRIES: * #11 - I Just Might - Bruno Mars (Atlantic) is the lead single from his forthcoming fourth studio album (and first in ten years) called The Romantic, due at the end of February. With Bruno playing all of the characters and performers in the video clip for the new single, he keeps with his 70's fashion (ala Die with a Smile video), with his new track securing Top 10 entries in The Netherlands (#2), England (#6) and New Zealand (#7), along with Germany (#12) and Ireland (#15) so far.
This week in 2015 Bruno was at #1 with Uptown Funk in Australia (6th and final week), New Zealand (5 of 9 weeks), The U.S.A. (2 of 14 weeks), Canada (3 of 15 weeks), England and Ireland (both 5th of 7 weeks), while this time last year his duet with Rosé was at the top in Australia, New Zealand (both tenth week) and Germany (3rd week), while his Gaga duet was at the summit in both North America and Canada (both second week). Bruno also gains a few entries this week within the On Replay Singles chart too, as Locked Out of Heaven enters at #29 (#1 this week in The U.S.A. in 2013 for a sixth and final week) and That's What I Like at #38, plus his Grenade track was topping the charts this week in 2011 in The U.S.A. (2 of 4 weeks), Canada (1 of 3 weeks), England (1 of 2 weeks) and Ireland (1 of 4 weeks).
* #19 - Sleepless in a Hotel Room - Luke Combs (Seven Ridges/Sony) is the third single issued from Luke forthcoming sixth studio album called The Way I Am (due March 20th), the first to land within the Top 20 (or even Top 50) and the second Top 100 entry from his upcoming release, with previous singles issued being Back in the Saddle (HP-72, August 4th, 2025) and Days Like These (didn't chart, issued October 2025). This is now his 14th Top 50 entry in Australia (13 as lead, one in a duet), and sixth Top 20 placement, while Australia is so far it's highest entry position, it also charts this week overseas in New Zealand (#30), Ireland (#43) and England (#58).

Olivia Dean retains the #1 Albums spot in Australia for a sixth straight and seventh overall stay, as The Art of Loving ties a Capitol Records chart-feat from the 1990's.
With The Art of Loving holding the local #1 LP spot for a sixth consecutive week, it becomes the equal longest run for an album by a Capitol Records artist since the six-week second run at the top for the Crowded House collection Recurring Dream - The Best of (from December 8th, 1996, to January 12th, 1997). That gave the House collection a total of ten weeks at #1 (first four weeks were in July-August of 1996), which is still the longest running #1 locally for a Capitol Records release, with the Romeo & Juliet soundtrack in second place (9 weeks from three separate runs), while Olivia is now third on that list at 7 weeks overall.
For this decade Olivia has now accrued the same amount of time at #1 as Adele with her 30 set (from Nov. 29th, 2021), while they are some of the twenty overall titles (11 during the ARIA-era) that have achieved seven weeks at the top, all of which are the equal-22nd longest running #1 Albums of all time. And with Olivia Dean holding the top of both charts this week again (for a sixth straight week), she again matches that feat in New Zealand (10th week of duopolies) where her album scores a twelfth week as their top seller, along with #1 slots in England (5th week), The Netherlands (4th week) and our #1 Vinyl Chart spot, while scoring NEW PEAKS in both The U.S.A. and Canada (#3), along with the ARIA End of Year (EOY) Album position of the ninth biggest selling album of 2025.
This week sees the first two Top 10 debuts for 2026, as the second studio album for local rapper and musician The Kid LAROI called BEFORE I FORGET debuts at #2 (#1 Australian Artists Album, #1 Hip Hop/R&B Album), becoming his third Top 3 placement locally after his debut mixtape F**k Love (debuted at #3 on July 27th, 2020, HP #1 on February 8th, 2021) and his first studio release The First Time (HP #3 upon entry November 20th, 2023; EOY#92) which last charted on November 17th, 2025. Overseas entries for his new set see him land at #9 in New Zealand, #19 in Norway, #20 in Belgium, #22 in England, #23 in The Netherlands, #33 in Scotland and #34 in Ireland so far.
Not only do we have a new #1 Hip Hop LP this week, but we also have a new #1 Country Album, which goes to the #4 national entry for Zach Bryan's sixth studio album With Heaven on Top, with the 25-track album becoming his third successive Top 10 entry locally and fourth Top 100 entry too, after American Heartbreak (LP#3, HP-54, debuted May 30th, 2022 and peaked on Dec. 18th, 2023) Zach Bryan (LP#4, HP-2 upon entry Sept. 4th, 2023) and his last was The Great American Bar Scene (LP#5, HP-3, July 15th, 2024, TW #49). This new set becomes his second #1 Album in Ireland, with two songs from the album debuting in their Top 10, Plastic Cigarette at #5 (UK #29) and Say Why at #8 (UK #43), along with a third track Appetite (#13, UK #48), while the set also lands overseas in England (#3), Norway, New Zealand (both #5), Sweden (#12) and The Netherlands (#20).
With only Olivia holding steady within the Top 10 this week and the two new entries, the rest of the ten declines, starting with a one-place slip to #3 (EOY#2) for the Golden Globe winning song and its parent soundtrack KPop Demon Hunters which racks up its 30th week within the Top 10. Taylor Swift slips to her lowest chart position again this week as The Life of a Showgirl drops two places to #5 (No.4 Vinyl), with the set maintaining its lead in Canada (13th week) and scoring the ARIA End of Year #1 spot too.
Tate McRae is also down one spot to #6 with So Close to What??? (EOY#5), followed by back-to-back Sabrina Carpenter sets as Man's Best Friend falls three spots to #7 (No.18 Vinyl, EOY#6) and Short N' Sweet dips two places to #8 (No.13 Vinyl, EOY#3), with two further two-place drops seen by Alex Warren and You'll Be Alright, Kid (EOY#8) and I Barely Know Her (EOY#38) for sombr to #9 and #10 respectively.
TOP 20: YUNGBLUD is in the country touring at the moment, which helps his latest release Idols (HP-4, June 30th, 2025) to rebound fifty-seven places this week to land at #12 (No.2 Vinyl), with the set the only rising title in this chart region. The two Top 10 dropouts don't land far from the ten this week, with Morgan Wallen down two places to #11 with I'm the Problem (EOY#12, newly ▲Platinum in sales, regains the U.S.A. #1 LP spot for a 13th overall stay) and HIT ME HARD & SOFT for Billie Eilish (EOY#4) dipping three to #13 (No.12 Vinyl).
After regaining a Top 100 berth last week the USB for Fred Again.. holds at #14, with the other dropping albums here being The Tortured Poets Department for Taylor Swift (down four to #15, No.20 Vinyl, EOY#15), The Secret of Us for Gracie Abrams (drops three to #16, EOY#7), the second and final new sales cert in the LP chart goes to Lady Gaga and MAYHEM (down three to #18, now Gold (●) in sales, EOY#18), BRAT for Charli XCX (dips two to #19, EOY#13) and CHROMOKOPIA for Tyler, the Creator (falls four to #20, No.7 Vinyl, EOY#27).
TOP 30: Only one NEW PEAK within the Top 50 this week, which goes to The Crux by Djo, rising seven places to land at #23, the set returned to the fifty last week at #30 (which itself was a new peak, surpassing its entry position of #31), while his single {not on this album} End of Beginning re-peaks at #3 this week too.
One other album rises here, the Tame Impala set Deadbeat (up one to #28), while remaining on hold at #22 is the Jessie Murph title Sex Hysteria. Sleep Token dip one spot to #26 with Even in Arcadia (EOY#19), with four albums seeing three-place drops; Play by Ed Sheeran [first time outside of the Top 20 in its 18-week run, it will rise again very soon with his tour starting here on Jan. 31st; EOY#46], along with Kansas Anymore for ROLE MODEL, hickey for Royel Otis and Addison by Addison Rae (EOY#97) to #21, #24, #27 and #29 respectively. The two Ariana Grande vehicles here both have higher drops, with eternal sunshine setting six places to #25 (EOY#20) and the Wicked: For Good set swooping down seven spots to land at #30.
TOP 40: Two albums rise in this chart section, both up three places each, with Lily Allen's West End Girl and Restless Mind by Sam Barber (EOY#74) moving up to #37 and #38 respectively. Ocean Alley have the fifth and final Australian Artists album within the Top 50 this week, many of which will rise in early February once the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2025 is revealed and broadcast next weekend, for now their Love Balloon dips one spot to #32.
Further single-place drops occur for rappers Post Malone with F-1 Trillion (to #33, EOY#51) and Drake with PartyNextDoor and $$$4U (to #40, EOY#36), while two-place falls are seen by SWAG I + II for JB (to #35, EOY#39) and People Watching by Sam Fender (to #36), with a three-spot fall to #39 for the Calvin Harris collection 96 Months (EOY#45) and finally a four-place-fall to #31 for Kendrick Lamar's GNX (EOY#16).
TOP 50: The Last Dinner Party have two more shows to perform on their current national tour (they will fall into next week's sales-period, Sydney on the 17th and Brisbane on the 19th), which has helped their latest release From the Pyre to phoenix back into the Top 100 this week at #46, the set having originally peaked at #7 upon entry on October 27th. Laneway Festival tourists Geese will be here in early February, and their set Getting Killed rebounds ten places this week to #47.
Two smaller rises are seen by JENNIE's Ruby (up two to #43, EOY#60) and the Bad Bunny set DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS (jumping four to #45). Down three-places each are Jelly Roll with Beautifully Broken to #41 (EOY#98) and Zach Bryan's last release The Great American Bar Scene to #49, with a five-place drop to #42 for The Weeknd title Hurry Up Tomorrow (EOY#22) and a six-spot fall to #48 for the Cameron Whitcomb set The Hard Way, while the biggest fall here goes to the Stray Kids KARMA, plummeting sixteen places this week to #44 (EOY#96).

"End Of Beginning" remains at #1 on the On Replay singles chart, with "Lush Life" holding at #2. "Purple Rain" climbs a bit higher to #16, and Olivia Dean's "Ok Love You Bye" reaches a new peak of #19 (her "The Hardest Part" and "Dive" are in the top 10). Bruno Mars' "Locked Out Of Heaven" debuts at #29, his 2nd song to appear on this chart, after "That's What I Like", which popped in at #44 7 weeks ago and re-enters at #38 this week. "Locked Out Of Heaven" seems to have had so many periodic boosts on the Spotify charts over the past few years, and it previously re-entered the ARIA top 100 for 1 week in October 2023 and 3 weeks at the start of 2025. The other debut this week, at #50, is "I Thought I Saw Your Face Today" by She & Him, a 2008 album track that has recently become popular, by a duo whose 'she' is the actress Zooey Deschanel. Their following album charted at #49 on ARIA in 2010 (and they were on the soundtrack of "(500) Days Of Summer", which charted at #46 in 2009). (I had thought the song might have been missing last week, but it wasn't high enough on the Spotify chart to be sure; I'm pleasantly surprised that it is being tracked.)
Last week, "Chandelier" debuted on the Australian version at #41, higher than the peaks of "Cheap Thrills" and "I Love It"; this week, both of those have decided to take back their thunder by vaulting into the top 40 while "Chandelier" falls to #49. Of the 33 songs that have charted for all 20 weeks so far, "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" is on life support as it falls to #50 (the rest of them are all in the top 35).
Zara Larsson's "So Good" debuts at #36 on the On Replay albums chart. Excluding its top 2 songs of "Lush Life" and "Symphony", its current global Spotify plays are 56% "Never Forget You", 29% "Ain't My Fault", 7% "I Would Like", and 9% the other 10 songs combined. (I'm surprised that Pearl Jam's "Ten" only ever spent 8 weeks on the catalogue albums chart.)
The Kid LAROI has 8 debuts on the regular Australian singles chart (in addition to 2 songs of his already charting). With that, Empire Of The Sun's "Alive" is #19 there while #41 on the Australian singles On Replay chart, which would be an unusually high proportion of new music on a combined version. This also pushes "Working Class Man" out of the chart. It would've been interesting if this had pulled any other Kid LAROI songs into the Australian singles On Replay chart (he just has "STAY" and "NIGHTS LIKE THIS"), but "WITHOUT YOU" (including its remix) is only currently doing 19% as much as "STAY" on global Spotify plays, so perhaps nothing is close (though in fairness to it, "WITHOUT YOU" was most successful in Australia).
